To celebrate Women in Manufacturing Week, we are highlighting a few incredible women that make up the experienced team at KPS Global. Our second feature is Mage Martinez, a true KPS Global veteran in the walk-in industry who has been on our team for fifteen years. Mage currently holds the Senior Planner/Scheduler position at the Goodyear, Arizona plant. For her first eleven years with the company, she was in the Quality department.
Mage made the transition between quality and scheduling because she wanted to do something different to broaden her experience within the company. She hoped to better understand what manufacturing an insulated panel requires, including the processing systems used. In both of her positions, Mage has trained new employees to ensure that the KPS Global expertise stretches across the company. For example, when on the Quality team, she was able to teach new employees how to read drawings or blueprints for our projects.
In her position on the Quality team, Mage focused on reviewing drawings from the design and engineering teams, approving them and passing them on to the plant. This meant that she had to know the panel manufacturing process from all sides. Now, in her scheduling position, she receives the drawings and works with the materials team to ensure that the plant is equipped to complete the project. Her work ensures that the manufacturing process runs smoothly and that there is not a shortage that blocks the assembly line. Mage is proud to have been offered her current position because of the depth of knowledge that she gained working on the floor.
Mage appreciates that her team interacts and communicates with respect and a level of comfort and belonging. She feels the Goodyear plant truly comes together and works as a team to complete each project. When issues arise, her team is effective in communicating and developing solutions. By being a great communicator, Mage ensures that the plant and, therefore, company as a whole are functioning optimally.
Mage feels that her immense knowledge about in the cold storage industry and the panel manufacturing process has made her a valuable asset to the company. This allows her to provide guidance to other employees and keep the team ahead of challenges.
