KPS Global is excited to introduce a brand-new product line, the DEFENDOOR™ system. This upgraded door armor system is designed to bring extra strength and support to walk-in cooler and freezer doors, elongating the functional life and aesthetics of the insulated panel system. The DEFENDOOR system, made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material and galvanized steel, protects every vulnerable inch of the door, maximizing the strength and protection of walk-in coolers and freezers. The DEFENDOOR system is made up of six parts that are arranged into four different kits, which can be selected based on the customer’s unique needs. The DEFENDOOR parts include an Interior Shield, Exterior Shield, Side Shield, Interior Corner Guard, Exterior Corner Guard and the DEFENDOOR Stabilizer. Each piece plays a key role in offering elite strength and protection when doors are faced with potential damage from threats like pallet jacks and bakery carts.
Walk-in doors in commercial settings endure frequent impacts from employees, pallet jacks and bakery carts. These collisions do more than just harm the appearance of customer-facing walk-ins; they compromise the system’s functionality. The most important job for a walk-in cooler or freezer is to keep the warmer exterior air from entering, which can cause condensation and ice.
The door is the front-line soldier safeguarding the cold envelope. When the door is repeatedly struck, it can begin to cause surrounding panels to split, allowing ambient air to enter. When higher temperature air meets the cold surface of a cooler, it creates condensation, which can cause puddles and rust to form. In a freezer, panels will begin to ice over at the joints and corrode when warm air enters. In food retail this can cause huge problems. Water puddles are a hazard to customers and employees, rust and corrosion can result in a failure to meet FDA regulations, and the cooler or freezer may no longer be able to uphold its number one duty of keeping the desired temperature.
The DEFENDOOR System serves as an enhancement to your walk-in door. Each piece provides durability and stability to maintain optimal door performance despite typical wear and tear. Below you can evaluate the attributes of all the parts that make up the DEFENDOOR system and how they contribute to delivering maximum protection.

While every piece has an important role, the star of the system is the DEFENDOOR Stabilizer. The two stabilizers are located on the walk-in’s bottom interior corners, stretching across to the adjacent panel to provide superior stability when the door faces impact. You may be familiar with the traditional, standard stabilizer that is currently on the market. The DEFENDOOR Stabilizer is a significant upgrade from a traditional stabilizer. Compared to standard stabilizers, the DEFENDOOR stabilizer…
