The men and women who bravely protect and defend the U.S. are our parents, children, grandparents, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. And once they leave active service, they continue to apply their skills and talents as an integral part of their local communities. KPS Global is proud to be an all-American company doing our part to strengthen communities across our country and serve our fellow citizens. On the occasion of Veterans Day, we want to highlight the incredible veterans we have the privilege to work with every day.

The Origins of Veterans Day

The first Veterans Day was observed on November 11, 1919. Originally called Armistice Day, it marked the first anniversary of the end of World War I. In 1926, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution for an annual observance, and the date became a national holiday in 1938. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors our fallen heroes, Veterans Day provides an opportunity to pay tribute to all American veterans, living or dead, but especially those we live and work with every day.

Veterans Day Observances

The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then continues with a parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The Veterans Day National Committee also selects a number of regional sites for Veterans Day observances each year, including parades, ceremonies, military exhibitions and tributes to distinguished veterans. Of course, many other communities across the country hold their own events, both large and small, to honor our nation’s veterans.

KPS Global Takes Pride in Our Veterans

Jeff Mysinger, a veteran who served as a tanker for almost a decade, is the Production Manager in Piney Flats and has been with KPS Global for 19 years. Jeff says: “I am very proud to work for a company that is all American-made! Those who take that oath probably are most proud of this.”

Jim Reilly, the Continuous Improvement and Quality Manager for KPSG, served in the U.S. Navy’s submarine service for 6 years. Jim says, “I am proud to be a part of an American-made manufacturer that builds products here and not overseas. I feel very strongly about this because I lost two jobs that were outsourced to overseas manufacturers. So I am here for the long haul – in Navy terms that means I am a lifer dog!

John Hoover, who was on active duty for 22 years in the U.S. Navy, has been with the company for one year. John says: “I’m so proud to be part of a company that supports our veterans and produces American products. It fills me with pride when I look outside my office and there’s a huge American flag hanging from the rafters.”
